In preparation for the implementation of the Government Assistance to Students and Teachers in Private Education (GASTPE) Program in SY 2023-2024, the PEAC organized the annual assembly of the GASTPE Regional Program Committees (RPComs) last April 14, 2023 at the Makati Diamond Residences, Makati City.
The PEAC annually organizes the assembly to give program updates and discuss implementation issues and concerns of the current school year, and present policy recommendations and plans for the coming school year to the Regional Program Committees (RPComs). The RPCom is chaired by the DepEd Regional Director and co-chaired by the PEAC Regional Program Director (RPD). The RPDs are Presidents of credible private educational institutions and associations that host the PEAC Regional Secretariats.
Rhodora Angela F. Ferrer, PEAC Executive Director and Usec. Jose Arturo C. De Castro, Undersecretary for Legal and Legislative Affairs and Designated Representative of Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte to the PEAC gave welcoming messages to the RPComs.
The PEAC NS Management Team presented the status reports on the ESC, SHS VP, TSS, and INSET in SY 2023-2024. Ms. Ferrer discussed the PEAC work plan for SY 2023-2024. Martin B. Española Jr. and Baby Lyn Briones from the Government Assistance and Subsidies-Program Management Office (GAS-PMO), followed with updates from the DepEd Central Office. After the presentations Usec. De Castro; Dir. Girlie Grace Casimiro-Igtiben, Director IV, Social Development Staff, National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA); Sr. Maria Marissa R. Viri, RVM, President of the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP); and Ms. Ferrer addressed the questions of the RPComs.
The PEAC also gave plaques of appreciation to outgoing Regional Program Directors for their dedicated service to the private education sector namely, Sr. Lydia Villegas, OSB, School Directress of St. Scholastica’s Academy San Fernando, Pampanga and Outgoing Regional Program Director for Region 3; and Fr. Karel S. San Juan, S.J., Immediate Past President of Ateneo de Zamboanga University and Outgoing Regional Program Director for Region 9.
Last April 15, 2023, the National Secretariat also had a meeting with the Regional Program Coordinators (RPCs) who have been designated by their respective RPDs for the day-to-day operations of the Regional Secretariats.
