Ms. Rhodora Angela F. Ferrer, PEAC Executive Director, was the keynote speaker at the annual assembly of the CEAP Superintendents Commission last September 22, 2019 at the District 21 Hotel, Iloilo City.
With the theme, “Shepherding the Young, Rejuvenating Catholic Education,” the assembly aims to reflect on the challenges in forming the faith of young students and addressing concerns in relation to the sustainability of Catholic schools.
In her keynote address, “Re-positioning Catholic Schools in the Landscape of Philippine Education,” Ms Ferrer posed important questions for reflection: Are we genuinely immersed in the lifeworld of our students? Are they experiencing authentic learning in our school communities? Are our students prepared to live and to meet the demands of the future? Have our educational communities enabled the work of salvation?
In her concluding remarks, she gave four action points for consideration: focus on the learning; train high-performing teachers and develop instructional supervision that is on target; focus on parent involvement; and ensure compliance with the Philippine Catholic Schools Standards (PCSS).
Ms. Ferrer also gave a presentation on the updates on PEAC and the GASTPE program during the second day of the annual assembly.
