DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara, PEAC Chair, presided over a regular meeting of the PEAC last October 10, 2025, which was attended by Mr. Marco M. Benitez, PACU President; Dr. Pio D. Baconga, ACSCU Board Member; Sr. Merceditas O. Ang, SPC, CEAP Board Member; and Mr. Edgardo S. Aranjuez II, Assistant Director of the Social Development Staff, representing DEPDev Secretary Arsenio M. Balisacan.
The meeting agenda covered a number of basic education initiatives that involved the participation of the private education sector such as the proposed expansion of the government subsidies to K to 6 learners, the leasing of private schools near congested public schools, quality assurance of senior high school providers through certification, and the monitoring of private schools participating in the subsidy programs.
Also in the meeting were DepEd officials, namely: Usec. Ronald U. Mendoza (Strategic Management); Usec. Filemon Ray L. Javier and Director Janine O. Chua (Legal and Legislative Affairs); OIC-Usec. Edson Byron K. Sy, Atty. Tara C. Rama (Finance, Government Assistance and Subsidies Service or GASS); Director Vernice D. Quintana (Private Education Office), among others. The PEAC National Secretariat team was led by Executive Director Doris Fernandez Ferrer, PhD.
